Very few of the books agree with each other, and even fewer include actual historical information or the contemporary writings of the Founding Fathers. Most historians agree that the Constitution has inherently a compromise between Franklin, Adams and Washington. Even that compromise was not enough to bring the southern colonies on board, and do more compromises had to be made. <br /><br />I personally think that the fallacy comes in thinking that there was complete agreement about the make up of the Constitution, and that the agreement meant that it was somehow equal to a religious text. <br /><br />I do think that the Constitution was inspired, but then I also think that God always works through imperfect people. I am constantly amazed by my Mormon and Christian friends who understand their imperfections, and yet seem to believe that all people who do God's work must be/ have been perfect, even though the scriptures clearly teach otherwise.
